Lutheran Women In Mission -LWML: At Bethany, these three names are synonymous . They are the women of the congregation who do so many things for Bethany and for the wider world. Bethany Circles will be cohosting the Kansas Fall LWML Rally with the LWML of Faith/Derby and Grace/El Dorado. The rally will be at Faith Lutheran –Derby on Saturday, October, 7, 2017. We meet on the third Tuesday of the month. We are a very small group. We have Bible study7 and a short business meeting. However, we have some very special ladies who are dedicated., and meet Tuesdays and Saturdays each week. They are passionate about sewing, and have put together 126 quilts this year for Lutheran World Relief (LWR). Some cut blocks, some sew together and press, others tie and bind. It is a sight to see them working together in our quilt room. They have also sewn 105 school bags, and filled 103 of them for LWR. One lady makes receiving blankets and diapers from flannel to use for baby care kits. 63 are ready for shipping. We also have 16 sewing kits and 28 personal care kits for LWR. Lutheran World Relief is our big mission, and we are planning a Chili Supper in October with proceeds going to LWR for shipping costs. Another of our missions is Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. We send $150 semi-annually for the Seminary Food Bank and $7,000 annually for the Adopt-a-Student fund. We have 16-20 women who serve on altar care, taking care of communion and flowers. Another group shop, cook and serve funeral dinners or luncheons. From boutique savings, we purchased a dish washer for our church this year and paid for the electrical, plumbing and installation. Though not large in number, we enjoy being together to “Serve God with gladness”. Lois Brockmeyer—Bethany Circles
